JP072 Eb Tenor Horn

The JP072 Eb Tenor Horn, as recommended by Glynn Williams, principal euphonium of Fodens Band, is the perfect starter instrument for players of all ages. Very popular within the UK education sector, the instrument provides a good level of performance for the price. Constructed from yellow brass throughout, the instrument is lightweight and easy to hold enabling younger musicians to play for longer. The top sprung nickel valves have been described as having a sweet action, and are smooth and free.

The instrument has a bore size of .459″ and an 8″ bell. 3 waterkeys, a lyre box and bell ring are all supplied as standard.

The JP072 Eb Tenor Horn is supplied with a JP602 mouthpiece and lightweight case. The case is well designed and attractively styled with and a reflective safety strap and a comfortable shoulder strap. The case also includes a small external pocket ideal for sheet music and an internal storage compartment for small accessories.

JP172 Eb Tenor Horn

The JP172 Eb Tenor Horn has been developed extensively over recent years and now in its fourth generation boasts a fantastic level of performance at a student price. This durable instrument performs very well both in a student and training band setting and is not out of place competing with more expensive models from some of the widely renowned brass manufacturers. The top sprung monel valves give players confidence with their smooth and free action and the instrument’s 4 water keys ensure maintenance is easy and straight forward.

The JP172 is very free blowing and responsive with excellent intonation and has been described by Mark Armstrong (formerly of Grimethorpe, Fodens and Black Dyke Band) as having a “great feel that promotes reassurance and stability throughout.”

The JP172 Eb Tenor Horn features a bore of .459″ and a 8″ bell for greater sound projection. Yellow Brass is used in construction throughout. A lyre box is also supplied as standard giving players everything that they need as they grow into musicians.

The JP172 Eb Tenor Horn is supplied with a JP602 mouthpiece and high quality lightweight case with backpack and shoulder straps. The case is constructed from high performing materials including YKK zips throughout and includes a small storage pocket suitable for small accessories and sheet music.

The JP272 Eb Tenor Horn builds upon the already high standard set by the JP172 and continues to push down the cost of tenor horns with professional features. Constructed from High Grade 80:20 Brass and featuring a one piece bell construction (a feature normally reserved for much more expensive musical instruments), the JP172 Eb Tenor Horn boasts a high specification at a highly competitive price. Popular in training bands, it competes outside its price range against instrument from some of the top makers. The JP272 Eb Tenor Horn has received high praise from some of the industries most well known players including Mark Armstrong who said “The instrument has been given a wave from a magic wand, free blowing with enough resistance to aid with mid-high range notation, coupled with a design that gives great tuning throughout its range. Created in collaboration with Paul Riggett of Sterling Musical Instruments, the JP372 represents a fusion of professional level Sterling components and design with the affordability and durability normally associated with the JP brand. Widely respected as one of the leading designers and manufacturers of brass instruments in the UK, Paul previously worked as a production manager at Boosey & Hawkes before creating Sterling Musical Instruments in 1987. The JP372 Sterling features a variety of exclusive Sterling design components that have managed to capture the spirit of Sterling within a JP Instrument. Constructed entirely from high grade 80:20 brass the instrument features a hand spun bell providing players with beautiful warm sound. A custom Sterling lead pipe ensures a truly professional sound.

The JP373 Sterling Eb Tenor Horn has a .466 bore and a hand spun 8″ bell. Stainless steel valves are provided as standard ensuring the a long lasting and durable valve action. The instrument also includes a lyre box, bell ring and 4 water keys.

The JP372 Sterling is supplied with a mouthpiece, Ultrapure maintenance and lubricant pack and high quality hard case. Constructed from shatter proof plastic, the case includes 3 hard wearing clasps (2 locking)and several small internal storage compartments, perfect for small accessories and maintenance equipment.
